Research - Green Exercise

Conservation of the environment tends to focus on ethical or economic reasons rather than the benefit the natural environment has on our mental and physical health. Since the industrial revolution the urban population has rapidly grown. The city can be great for employment oppertunities and acess to public facilities, however the removal from easy acesss to green nature can effect our mental health or less opportunity to to recover from stress.

"The World Health Organisation estimates that depression and depression-related illness will become the greatest sourse of ill health by 2020"

The environment one is in can affect behaviour, interpersonal relationships and actual mental states. Therefore an environment either be theraputic or harmful. Evidence shows "that exposure to nature can make positive contributions to health, help people recover from pre-exsisting stresses or problems, have an "immunisng" effect by protecting people from future stresses, and help them concentrate and think more clearly".
